Using the BBQ Flame Tamer on a beverage bottle.
Step 1: Assemble the BBQ Flame Tamer (if necessary). Put the dip tube in warm clear water and squeeze the trigger repeatedly until you are satisfied the sprayer is rinsed thoroughly.
Step 2: Open the beverage bottle you are going to use. If you use something other than a beverage, filter out any particulate matter that will clog the sprayer.
Glass Bottles: Place the open glass bottle on a flat surface and hold it steady with one hand on the shoulder of the bottle. With the other hand insert the BBQ Flame Tamer dip tube into the bottle until the bottom of the BBQ Flame Tamer meets the top of the bottle, use a gentle rocking circular motion with moderate downward pressure to fully seat the BBQ Flame Tamer on to the bottle.
Plastic Bottles: Place the open plastic bottle on a flat surface and hold it steady with one hand up near the top of the bottle, with the other hand insert the BBQ Flame Tamer dip tube into the bottle until the bottom of the BBQ Flame Tamer meets the top of the bottle, use a gentle rocking circular motion with light downward pressure (as not to crush the plastic bottle) to fully seat the BBQ Flame Tamer on to the bottle. A slight clockwise twist may also help by taking advantage of the threads.
Step 3: Set it to stream or spray by turning the nozzle. With the nozzle pointing away from you turn the nozzle to the right for stream and to the left for spray.
Cleaning: Put the dip tube in warm soapy water and squeeze the trigger repeatedly until you are satisfied the sprayer is clean. Put the dip tube in warm clear water and squeeze the trigger repeatedly until you are satisfied the sprayer is rinsed thoroughly.
In most cases the BBQ Flame Tamer will provide a tight enough fit that you can use it one handed (this is the way I use it). However, the absolute safest way to use the Flame Tamer is with both hands. One hand supporting the bottle and the other working the trigger. This eliminates any possibility that the bottle may slip out.
